The Viking Leif Eriksson discovered America 500 years before Christopher Columbus. But how did the Vikings manage to cross the icy and stormy Atlantic in an open wooden ship?

Professional adventurer Burghard Pieske wanted to recreate the Vikings journey as authentically as possible. Despite the doubts of many experts, he sailed from Denmark across the Atlantic in a replica of an original Viking ship, with the goal of reaching New York. In this documentary you can find out what challenges Pieske and his team faced and whether they actually made it to New York.

You can marvel at his 14-metre-long ship, the ‘Wiking Saga’, at the ‘Bubba Svens’ restaurant in the museum hotel 'Krønasår’.
