Hans-Jürgen van Akkeren has been an IT administrator at Europa-Park for 23 years and is affectionately known as ‘IT grandad’ by his colleagues. Outside of his IT work, he is interested in art and history.

During the week, he takes care of all kinds of IT matters at Europa-Park. In his spare time, he gives guided tours of medieval castles - in traditional knight's garb! As different as his two passions - IT and history - may seem at first glance, they are not at all. Because Europa-Park also hides many secrets from ancient times.
