Just in time for the twentieth anniversary in 1995, El Andaluz, the first themed hotel of Europa-Park, is opened. Roland Mack is convinced that this is the next logical step for Europa-Park. Ulrich Damrau designed the interior of hotel 'El Andaluz' with a mixture of his own creations and original pieces of furniture and decoration. He is assisted by Rudolf Neumeier, a specialist in the sourcing of antiques.

In 1996, the next construction project was already underway: The German themed area was redesigned. Damrau outdid himself with the theming. Even an original section of the Berlin Wall was installed!

A 'new' roller coaster has been added to the Swiss themed area: Matterhorn-Blitz. This coaster is a further development of the popular 'Wild Mouse' from the Mack’s.

In the following years, the Russia themed area is created with the fast-paced rollercoaster Euro-Mir, including a real training module used by Russia for manned space travel! In addition, the Greek themed area with the Poseidon water rollercoaster and the large-scale Silver Star project: Europe's highest rollercoaster.
